Few week back some one forwarded us the link of Harsha Bhogle's famous IIM talk on Talaent, Attitude & Success. After going thr the link, we at ASHOKA BUSINESS SCHOOL, Nasik decided to invite him for a open session.

What Do You Expect From B School???

Oh my God ! 

Did you hear that? There are more than 2400 management institutions in India giving MBA degree to students like you and me…….!

Hmmmmmm…….it’s a quite a large number, but tell me how many of them are really giving me my dream salary packages?

Common dude……they are Management institutes and not placement agencies.

So what , all I want from a B school is a good placement where I can earn good salary and to be honest that is the only reason I am leaving my engineering background to jump in with MBA !!!!

MBA kar dala to life Zingalala!!!

Hey,, come down from your ninth cloud. Is money everything for you in life? What about actual learning? What about experiencing new things? What about exploring our self, what about stretching our boundaries to be an entrepreneur? And what about the actual knowledge I am gonna get from my B school?

Chal yaar…….don’t be kidding !! I heard my senior saying that whatever we learn in management theory is totally different than current practices in industry. So why to be wasting much time in learning something which will be never used by us in our jobs…….

You said it right but I don’t agree… what about IIM pass outs, they are doing great, what about MBA from Harvard, Cambridge, ISB……….students of those institutes are doing great with their life , they have achieved what they wanted………they never say like this…… I have toh decided yaar ! I am going to appear for CAT and go form IIM!

Go ahead and enjoy your IIM, apun toh kahise bhi MBA kar lega aur apne dimag se thuze bhi aage nikal jayega! After all what actually makes the difference is you and not the b school you taking degree form!!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh……

As an upcoming Business School marching towards 'Redefining a Managerial Excellence', It didn’t amuse me to hear this from two MBA aspirants around me! What can I say about this? Are they both representing today’s youth aspiring to be Management Graduates! ......I wonder.

This conversation forced me to understand that when a 21-25 year old any stream graduates wishes to do a MBA then what S/He is excepting out of this Business school or institute.

Is it top notch faculty?

Is it lavish infrastructure?

Is it access to modern technology?

                                    Is it best placement without any efforts?

              Or is it best industry exposure?

Its hard to find these everything in one single B school; So whom to blame?

Students?

Business schools?

Social pressure?

Parent’s pressure?

……..

As a Business School, I am confused too!!! So why not you participate in this debate and tell me what you actually expecting from a good B school. Let us come together to discuss your expectations form a B school (let us not go in to whether they are realistic or unrealistic)

Feel free to share your experience……..whether you are MBA aspirants, whether you are MBA pass out, whether you are a B school Faculty, entrepreneur  or whether you are from industry or you may be any of the stakeholder of today’s educational  system!!!
